The KDL-40E4000 features a unique picture frame design, the BRAVIA E Series LCD televisions comes in a variety of different colours to fit in perfectly with the individual design of your living room.

The KDL-40E4000’s unique picture frame design allows you to turn your LCD TV into a work of art with ‘Picture Frame Mode’. When you are not watching TV you can use your BRAVIA TV like a painting or giant digital picture frame. You can display one of the 6 pre-installed artistic masterpieces from Pop-Art through to Can Gogh. Alternatively show off your own photos or artwork using the USB input.


You can also use your KDL-40E4000 to view your digital photos. Turn your TV into a giant digital camera display simply by connecting your digital camera or memory card reader via the USB connection. You can use the TV to zoom, edit Cyber-shot albums and create special slideshows. You can even use some of your favourite photos as your standby screen! There is also a Radio Display mode which lets you view photos while listening to the radio. You photos will look better than ever on the full HD screen bursting with colour and fine details.

Watch TV, experience movies and enjoy your own pictures in superb High Definition detail thanks to the 6.2 mega pixel resolution. High definition makes it possible to enjoy movies, television and games with stunning picture quality and sound. This is down to the increased level of detail available with HD. Standard definition televisions have 720x576 pixels available to display their picture. With the Sony KDL-40E4000 you get 1920x1080 pixels giving you a better resolution and finer detail in the images.

The KDL-40E4000 features Sony’s Live Colour Creation technology which is unique to it’s BRAVIA televisions. Live Colour Creation offers a 30% wider colour than conventional LCD televisions. This results in the reproduction of much deeper and accurate colour tones display images with colours as nature intended. The KDL-40E4000 also features x.v.Colour which delivers almost twice as many colours as the full RGB palatte. This enables a much more realistic image to be rendered on-screen especially when watching HD content.

The KDL-40E4000 incorporates Sony’s new BRAVIA Engine 2 technology. This involves a number of image enhancements including intelligent noise reduction routines and an Advanced Contrast Enhancer. The BRAVIA Engine 2 has built upon the original BRAVIA Engine’s success and added additional four new image processing states. The results are astonishingly clear and life-like colours incorporating the most natural and lifelike tones available. Black levels are deep and detailed with a brightness and contrast that is crisp and full of detail.

Other great features the KDL-40E4000 has to offer include a 24p True Cinema mode for watching DVD’s at their original frame rate, virtual Dolby surround sound and BBE ViVA sound technology and BRAVIA Theatre Sync for controlling all of your AV components.

There are three HDMI connectors available for connecting all your HD components including Blu-ray players, the latest games consoles and other HD items such as HD camcorders. One of the HDMI connectors is positioned on the side of the KDL-40E4000 to provide easy access without having to reach round the back of the LCD television.

Navigating the KDL-40E4000’s menu is made easy thanks to the easy-to-navigate Xross Media Bar allowing you to browse all of the TV’s functions and easily access your favourite pictures.

The KDL-40E4000 also has an integrated digital freeview tuner allowing you to receive the range of freeview channels available.
