The KDL-40W4000 has been designed to Sony’s ‘Draw The Line’ principles. It’s all about clean, understated lines that enhance your environment without distracting you from your viewing experience. All excessive parts and unnecessary spaces have been removed so you can focus upon enjoying the stunning 40” screen and superb picture quality.

With the Sony KDL-40W4000 you can watch TV and movies, view photos and play games all in superb high definition thanks to the large 40” 6.2 mega-pixel screen. High definition makes it possible to enjoy your home entertainment with a stunning picture quality not available in standard definition.

Standard definition televisions have just 720x576 pixels they can use to form the picture you see. With a high definition television such as the Sony KDL-40W4000 you have 1920x1080 pixels to form the image. This increase in the number of pixels allows the LCD to produce an incredibly clear and detailed pictrure. Basically, the more pixels the better the resolution and the finer the detail you can see.

When the KDL-40W4000 is not in use you can display one of your own pictures to view with ‘Picture Frame Mode’. This lets you fill that big black hole in your living room by using the KDL-40W4000 to display one the 6 pre-installed artistic images or one of your own creations. Just like a giant 40” digital photo frame.

The KDL-40W4000 incorporates Sony’s BRAVIA ENGINE 2 picture enhancement technology. By using some of Sony’s most innovative technologies such as a Advanced Contrast Enhancer and intelligent noise reduction the BRAVIA ENGINE 2 improves upon the raw power of the acclaimed BRAVIA ENGINE and adds an additional four image processing stages. It incorporates full digital signal processing across many different signals to achieve the best quality picture for you in all scenarios. The result for you is an astonishingly clear and life-like image, full of colours with the most natural tones possible. Black levels are reproduced clear and dark while maintain the highest level of detail.

The KDL-40W4000 includes Sony’s innovative XrossMediaBar, taking the complexity out of the LCD’s menus. The XroxxMediaBar is an attractive and intuitive user interface that allows you to easily see which devices are connected to your TV and provides quick access to them.

Colours on the KDL-40W4000 look amazing thanks to a combination of Live Colour Creation and x.v.Colour on the 10-Bit LCD panel. Usually LCD TVs use 8-bit panels and are capable of 256 steps of gradation between colours. The amazing 10-bit panels developed by Sony for their latest range of LCD TVs can offer 1024 gradiations in colour. This brings the image to life, everything from skin tones to sunsets will look natural and as close to the original record

Standard 8-bit panels normally used for LCD TVs are capable of 256 steps of gradation between colours. The state of the art 10-bit LCD panel technology has been developed by Sony for our latest range of BRAVIA TVs to offer 1024 shades of gradation. This breathes life into everything from skin tones to sunsets so that everything you see is as close to the original as possible.

The KDL-40W4000 has a range of connectivity options available to connect all of your AV components. There are 3 HDMI inputs with one of these located to the side of the LCD for easy connection of camera and camcorders. There is also a PC input, Component input, Composite video and 2 SCART connections.

The KDL-40W4000 inclues an integrated digital freeview tunerthat that receives digital terrestrial TV channels and radio broadcasts. Other features of the 40W4000 include 24p True Cinema playback, BRAVIA Sync and BBE ViVA sound technology.
